I bought this chair at Goodwill for $18.00. It had been marked down from $22 since it had been there for so long. I thought about maybe tackling an upholstery job for the first time... but got too scared Maybe one day, with something a bit simpler. I decided to just give it a few coats of satin white spray paint. I used painters tape and plastic to keep the fabric safe. So for only $18 + $4.30 for spray paint I have a really comfy chair for my living room.
I love how well it goes with everything I have, its a little funky, but still a little classic, and of course, Colorful!!! For only $22.30 I can't beat it.
The white paint makes a huge difference! Love it!
ReplyDeletecould you dye the fabric?
ReplyDeleteI think it looks great, especially with that cute yellow and grey pillow on it, I think it was a success!

ReplyDeleteI love the chair and it's beautiful as is. I made a good find, too, and am waiting for some good weather and just the right fabrics to get started. Don't be scared to tackle the upholstery, though-- it looks more complicated than it really is. Go visit my blog and get some ideas and encouragement-- you can do it!!

and it ended up pink!
That looks fantastic!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAmazing what a simple paint job will do.
ReplyDeleteI have almost this exact chair. I bought it for $6.00 at an auction and has a blue velvet uphostery. I'm a little scared to pull it all apart as well, so I'm glad to see you had success in taping it. I really want to paint the frame and then maybe slipcover it. Anyway, your chair turned out great! I even like the gold upholstery. Very vintage chic!
